We edited as much as possible before we presented to the rest of the class.
The feedback we received was because of the subject and genre of the film, use soft transitions and no cuts. We were also told to soften the music at the beginning of the opening and introduce it gradually. Also, a lot of the shots were the same because we mainly used medium shots so when we film again we will shoot from a lot more different angles and try and get a variety. People suggested we use some extreme close-ups to help portray the emotion and point of view shots to help tell the story. More locations and voice-overs were more suggestions that people thought would make the opening better.
Planning our new idea and the summary of the plot
Our group took the time to sit down and decide on another idea for different film opening as our previous one hadn't worked out so well. We wanted to change our idea completely by using a different genre. We decided we wanted to make an effective and dramatic film but in the opposite way to a horror so we came up with a whole new concept. We though about how effective we could make it and if it would appeal to an audience. We also figured out not to give too much of the film plot away in the opening 2 minutes because we wanted to build tension and engage the audience. Faye, Charlotte and myself all went away and thought about a new idea for the film. When we got together to discuss what to do we shared the ideas from each others film ideas. All were different but based on the same sort of genre. As a group we decided we wanted to do drama as that was one of our favourite genres to watch and knew it was popular with people our age.
Our new film is called 'Before I Die' and is about a teenage girl called Rose who has been diagnosed with cancer. What happens in the film is Rose (who will be played by Charlotte Andreas) makes a list of things she wants to do before she dies and as she does them she ticks them off. She does this with the help of her best friend Josephine ( who will be played by myelf) She also has to bring herself to tell her boyfriend that she is going to die. The film is aimed at mainly females of any age above 10.

Feedback for animatic of Revisited
The feedback for our animatic was very positive as we had a clear idea of what we wanted to do and how we were going to film it.
We realised when watching the animatic that the shot where the girls are in the bedroom having a conversation needed shot reverse shot as it would have bored the audience if we didn't change the camera angles and make it more interesting.
There wasn't many things that needed changing apart from that and we were very pleased with how our idea worked as an animatic and were looking forward to filming it.

Filming of Revisited
On Friday 20th of November, Faye Gibbs and Charlotte Andreas came round my house to begin filming for our film opening Revisited. Some of the filming needed to be when it was light outside where-as some needed to be in the dark, so we filmed the day scenes first which I thought went better than the other scenes as light wasn't really an issue.
Through-out the day we filmed varies different shots from different angles and with different lights but it wasn't turning out how we expected it would and the scary shots weren't very effective. We also had a lot of trouble when filming outside as there were no street lamps so shots came out pitch black and useless.
When we looked back at the footage we decided it wasn't good enough and wasn't worth re-filming so we decided to completely scrap our original idea and think of a new film opening of a different genre.

Summary of Revisited
My group is made up of Me, Charlotte Andreas and Faye Gibbs.
Our film is a horror film called 'Revisited' and is aimed at mainly teenagers who enjoy scary films. The rating is 15 and over.
The main plot of the film is that a dangerous serial killer has escaped from prison and is on the hunt for victims. He gets into the house of a 16 year old girl having a sleepover with her friends, one by one he brutally murders 3 out of the 4 girls. The last girl sees all her friends being killed and manages to escape. The rest of the film is about how a year on, the murderer has escaped from prison once more and hunts down the 16 year old girl (the main character) and tries to kill her.
I will be playing the main character which is the girl who has survived, Faye Gibbs and Charlotte Andreas and one of our friends will be playing the three other girls who get murdered. Another friend will be playing the killer although their face wont be shown as people will only recognise him by his latex gloves.

Preliminary Exercise
We completed our preliminary exercise where some-one had to walk through a door and sit opposite a person and have a conversation. We had the think about the camera work, editing, mise-en-scene and sound when filming and editing our preliminary exercise. In my group there was 3 people (Me, Becci Taylor and Laura Pinkey). Me and Becci acted where-as because Laura was absent, we had Faye Gibbs from another group help us film. All of the shots were steady and in focus, but we had the re-film some of the shot reverse shot shot because we didn't frame the shots using the rule of thirds, so we changed the height of the shots so the position was correct. Both subjects were clearly visible although I was made to look much darker than Becci because of the sun shining through the blinds casting a very dark shadow on me, which wasn't deliberate but did look good seeing as i was a drug dealer. We followed the 180o rule and didn't cross the line so the viewer doesn't get confused. Most of our shots consisted of long/medium shots, especially when Becci was entering the room. If we were to film it again I would probably have changed the shot where Becci enters the room as you cannot see me and therefore the viewer might get a bit confused as to where she is going. We had a bit of trouble filming that shot as the room was quite small so it was hard to fit everyone in. The shot reverse shot worked well although due the the lighting we didn't really look like we were in the same place. Our match on action was probably the best part of our preliminary exercise as we edited it really tightly. There is a jump cut to a close up of the door opening which we wouldn't use if we were to do it again but doesn't look terrible. The shot reverse shot was good as we edited it well and the conversation had a good pace to it so it flowed well. All of the transitions are invisible making it all flow well. If I were to change any editing shots i wouldn't but I would probably include more shot reverse shot, but we were overall pleased with the editing. We had a major problem with the sound when we first filmed the exercise as we originally filmed outside. It was very windy therefore you couldn't hear any of the dialogue. It was quite annoying because we filmed all the shots but when we imported it onto the computer we found that we could not here the speech. So we re-filmed in a different location - this time inside, where it worked much better. I think that the sound could have been clearer and louder but it is okay. The lighting on Becci during the dialogue and when she enters the room is good but not when the camera is on me due to the sun. Before we filmed we tried to clear as much as the background as possible to make it look less messy but the mise-en-scene wasn't really appropriate for the conversation. Overall our group was very pleased with the outcome and we realised what elements we could improve on. We worked well as a group by all doing the same amount of filming and editing each.
