Lip syncing for the first time

This was the 1st time we had tried lip syncing before but we found it surprisingly easy. In my group there is me, Charlotte Andreas and Faye Gibbs. We chose the song 'Summertime' by Mungo Jerry which we thought would be easy because the song gave us lots of ideas to choose from when filming at Knebworth.
We did it twice through each with the person who was lip syncing at the time just simply sitting in front of the camera using a medium/close-up shot of the shoulders upwards. The framing of our shot was good as we kept the background simple and relevant to the song which was just a field which made it look as if we were on a holiday in the summer.
We decided to use Charlotte as the main singer as her lip syncing was the best although her lip movements needed to be more exaggerated to make it clear that she is mining to the song.
We also needed to be more creative with the type of shots used as we only used one. We did this because we just wanted to focus on getting the lip syncing right. Props could have been used to make it more interesting so we will keep this in mind when filming at Knebworth.
The song 'Summertime' has a lot of instrumentals in it but we didn't have enough shots to fill the gaps where there is no singing so we had to leave it with just Charlotte in front of the camera doing nothing. Therefore when we film at Knebworth we will make sure that we get enough shots to use as cutaways shots.
Another problem we had was that we had to use an Mp4 Aigo which didn't play the music out loud so we had to use white headphones which were clearly visible in the shots.
Another thing picked up on when our video was shown to the class was the rule of thirds and that the eye line should have been higher.
When it came to putting the shots to the music we didn't have any problems and we were able to get it exact, so overall we learnt a lot and are more prepared for filming in the future.
